Having attended their South West conference, Michael Clinton has written an article for the Housing Learning and Improvement Network (LIN), such was the interest in the Smart Hamlet concept. This prompted us to look up the definition of a hamlet. OED defn: Middle English: from Old French hamelet, diminutive of hamel ‘little village’; related to home (hám in Old English).
The idea of ‘home’ fits so well with what we are all about – eco (Late Latin oeco- household, from Greek oik-, oiko-, from oikos house). Is it not time to reorient our thinking away from homes serving business to business serving homes?
